A site that tells you what things cost should be straightforward about what it costs to run and who pays for it.
Where the money comes from
Four places. Affiliate commission when you buy something we recommended. Display advertising served by Google, which appears only for readers who allow it in our privacy notice. Digital planning tools sold on our Etsy shop, ShopWeddingish. And eventually sponsorship of our email letter, which will always be labelled.
That is the whole list. No paid placements in articles, no sponsored “best of” slots, no pay-to-be-included directories.
How that affects what you read
It does not decide what we recommend, and we will not pretend the incentive does not exist. The honest position is that we make money when you buy, so read us the way you would read anyone with that incentive, and hold us to the numbers.
Every article containing an affiliate link says so at the top. Advertisers do not see our articles before publication and have no say in them; the ads are placed by Google, not sold by us, and an ad appearing next to an article is not an endorsement in either direction.
Where our numbers come from
Cost figures come from real quotes and published supplier pricing, and we say when we gathered them. Where a range is wide, we show the range rather than a tidy average, because the tidy average is the thing that gets people into trouble.
